Newt GingrichMicrosoft has bumped the Be Well fund meant to jump-start HealthVault applications by 50%, to $4.5 million.

It also named its judging panel. Most are names well-known only in the computing or medical industries, like Google-ex Adam Bosworth, longevity guru Mark Liponis, and medical dean Valerie Montgomery Rice.

Then there’s Newt Gingrich.

OK, I get it. A little celebrity pizzazz. Newt’s not running for anything. Newt believes in The Future!

The panel will pick through thousands of entries and fund those which show the most promise in using Microsoft’s HealthVault tools into something The Future! will appreciate.

Good luck with that. I mean that sincerely.
