GEMM Inventor Dr. GolgunLast week I wrote here about attempts to ban cell phones in hospitals and most of you dismissed the concerns. But the idea that low-power electromagnetic waves impact us at a cellular level has some scientific basis. It’s science a Swiss outfit called Healthia S.A. is trying to profit from through a system dubbed GEMM (Generatore Elettro Magnetico Modulato).

A Turkish doctor named Seckiner Gorgun has been touting the idea of “therapeutic waves” for over two decades. The company claims it helps osteoarthritis patients and can even cure some cancers.

Dr. Gorgun says low power radio waves can target specific cell proteins to stop, modify or reverse malfunctioning cellular processes.

Maybe. Maybe not. The company will be a presenter at next month’s Medtech conference in Boston. It will be one of 22 first-time presenters at the conference, according to an online schedule.

If you wish you can bring your duck calls there.  Or just suspend disbelief while acknowledging that extraordinary claims demand extraordinary poof.
